Yam Rice @ Taro Rice Recipe

Ingredients:-
  • 1 cup rice, washed and soaked for 2 hours
  • 125 @150g yam or Taro, cubed
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 shallots, sliced and fry
  • 3 dried mushroom,soaked and finely chopped
  • 25g dried prawns,washed and drained
  • 150g chicken
  • 3/4 glove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 pandan leaves, knotted
Seasoning:-
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cube chicken stock
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
Methods:-
Prepared the ingredients as below.


Marinate the chicken with all seasoning.
Heat oil in a wok and stir fry the chopped garlic until golden brown. Add in dried prawns and saute until fragrance.

Add in Yam or Taro and mushroom.Stir fry well.

Add chicken and 1/4 cup of water into the mixture.
Stir fry until the chicken cooked.

Lastly add the rice into the wok and stir it.

Dish the rice mixture into an electrical rice cooker. Add another left over 1 1/2 cups water and pandan leaves into the pot. Cook as usual.

This is the result! Yummy! Yummy!

You may serve the rice with a sprinkling of shallot crisp, chopped onions and coriander.
Oh yes!Usually I do not use the fresh taro to cook my Yam Rice.

I bought this Wei Chuan frozen Taro from Asian Pacific Market and the taste came out good.You can try it!
