My Simple Meal :Grill Chicken

I'm not a good cook but I have passion towards food :) I think you should know why I never loose weight eventhough I try very hard!

If you follow my blog, you will noticed normally I prefer to cook simple meal with simple ingredients and methods. Trust me, simple meal does not necessary mean it does not taste good!

One of my favorites recipe is Korean Grill Chicken @ Pork or Japanese Terriyaki Grill Chicken @Pork.

These are the two sauces I must have in my fridge. Korean BBQ Sauce and Japanese Teriyaki Sauce. You can easily get these two sauce in Asian Market or Korean Market. Some Western Market will carry these two SKU in their shop as well.

How I do it?

Method:-

Normally I will cut the chicken or pork into small slices and marinate it with one of these sauce.
  1. Sprinkle some sesame seed on both side of the marinated chicken/pork .

  2. Pour some cooking oil into the baking pan.

  3. Marinate for minimum 1/2 hour before grill.
  4. Heat the oven to 400 degree F and bake the marinated chicken or pork for 20 - 25 minutes or until cooked.
The chicken can be serve together with some stir fried broccoli or KimChi as shown above.

Few way to prepare your broccoli.
1) Broccoli stir fry with soy sauce, sugar and chopped garlic. You can sprinkle
some sesame on top before serving.

2) Broccoli stir fry with chopped garlic, dry prawn, salt and sugar.

3) Broccoli stir fry with chopped garlic and mushroom sauce.

4) Boiled Broccoli and dry it then mix with mushroom sauce and sprinkle some
fried onion.

If you wish to have even more simple method, then you can just slice some cucumber and tomato to serve with the grill chicken.

Denver, Capital City Of Colorado

May 25,2009

After our Dim Sum breakfast in Denver, we drove Soni and Jack around Denver city.
Denver is one of the few cities in history that was not built on a road, railroad, lake, navigable river or body of water when it was founded. It just happened to be where the first few flakes of gold were found in 1858. It will be celebrating it's 150 years anniversary in this coming September 2009.
Denver also called the Mile High City because it located at the exact elevation of 5,280 feet above sea level. Therefore, Denver is one of the best sports towns in United State. Athlete who trained here will have more benefits due to the high altitude.

Nice buildings around the town

16th Street Mall, most famous street in Denver

Pedestrian friendly area.

Hard Rock Cafe at 16th street mall
Chocolate Factory selling these yummy and colorful Apple.
Even though I desire for it but I never dare get one for myself because I worry I will get addicted to it and become GEMUK! FAT! TUA PUI POH!
Coincidentally there is an arts exhibition around 16th Street Mall. I think Jack and Soni came at the right time!
It's a rainy day but yet it's crowded with people

Jack and Soni looking at the handmade jewelry

This is my favorite booth, if I got $$$ sure will grab some drawing back home

Another cute art sculpture that I like

We did many stuffs in this 3 day trip together with Jack and Soni.Tiring but fun and memorable trip with old friends.

PF Chang's China Bistro, Loveland

May 24, 2009

We had our dinner at Loveland tonight.

I have been wanting to go PF Chang's ever since I saw this restaurant in Denver but never went for a visit because Soo Beng and some friends keep telling me that PF Chang's not a good place for authentic Chinese food.

Thanks Jack for recommend this restaurant so that I got the chance to experience it 1st hand.

I was attracted by their very upscale building looks. I expect the restaurant to have a fine dining atmosphere and serving good foods.

You can see this horse sculpture in all PF Chang's outlet

A Terra cotta army sculpture inside the restaurant

The restaurant itself was crowded and noisy. A bit disappointed because it's not what I had expected originally !

Initially I'm so excited because we found Plum Wine in their beverage list. Before making the order, I confirmed with the waitress to make sure it's Japanese Plum Wine.

When the drink came. Oh my gosh! They put a cherry inside the wine instead of a plum! This is not my Plum Wine! It taste like cherry!

I felt cheated!!

Nice sauces display for our foods. But it doesn't look like our usual Chinese sauce so I didn't try, especially the chili sauce

Later we got our food but they mixed up Jack's dish, instead of Mapo Tofu, we got some beef dish.Feel sorry for Jack as he needed to wait for them to change his dish.
Overall, the food taste average but found it's not authentic chinese food.

PF Chang's is a fancy 'looking' and americanized chinese food.

Talking about authentic chinese food. We have 2 restaurants to recommend. One is in Denver and the other is at Colorado Springs.

Check it out!

Estes Park, Colorado

May 24, 2009

We are lucky to have longer hour of day time for this trip to Rocky Mountain. The sun sets around 8:30pm. We had time go venture around Estes Park.
Estes Park is 7,522 feet above sea level surrounded by snow capped peaks ranging from 8,500 to more than 14,000 feet high are from Loveland, Ft. Collins, Longmont, Boulder and Denver.
Ester Park is one of the "Best" destination in United State and Colorado.
Web users ranked Estes Park as a Top 25 Vacation Destination in the United States in Trip Advisor’s 2008 Travelers Choice Awards.
I remembered Soni told us that Estes Park is one of the Top 100 list place must visit before die rated by public.

1st thing to do in Estes Park downtown is to get ourself a nice home made ice-cream :)

Surprisingly, there are more then 5 ice-cream parlour along the street. Compare to Manitou, the ice-cream portion is little but taste good! Remember to get yourself an ice-cream during your visit.

Building design are similar to others old town

Shopping in Estes Park takes on a festival feeling as you stroll up and down the street, peeking into small shops offering an amazing variety of goods from handcrafted Southwestern arts to unique giftware and fine apparel.

You can also try to ride this horse car around the downtown
There is another exhibition and flea market in the downtown due to the celebration of Memorial Day. It's an amazing place to find handmade craft and arts.
This is Mr Jake Jacobs and he is playing his traditional Celtic music for SB & me. I love it very much. I'm looking for this type of music for so long and finally I got it! I bought myself an album from him. Opps!I should ask for his autograph :(

Cute little shop

Restaurant and souvenir shop near the river.

Soni, I still managed to take Jack's photo even though he's trying hard to escape :)

Love this building, nice architecture

Nice restaurant.

In Estes Park, you can find many restaurants and cafes that serve everything from international and wild game fare to an old-fashioned burger. If you are looking for a quick bite, a picnic lunch or a leisurely dining experience you’ll definitely find it here.
A very old and traditional cinema in the town

We had a great time in this little small town even though it was a short stroll.
On the way to Loveland, I found many interesting places along Estes Park. For sure, I will come again ! I will stay overnight here to get away from Colorado Springs for a weekend.
Wait for me! Estes Park, we will met each other soon :)
Rainbow! It accompany us along the way back home!

Bye bye! Estes Park & Rocky Mountain! I will miss you!
