Old Colorado City, Colorado

23 May,2009

Old Colorado City is the oldest city in the Pikes Peak Region and only 10 minutes drive from our place. Today it is both a shopping and dining magnet.

Old brick buildings and thick towering trees hem both sides of Colorado Avenue to create a visually appealing throwback feel.

The district is jammed with 113 shops, galleries and restaurants that all have the refreshing distinction of not being chains.

The Barracuda Bazaar

Bon Ton's Cafe, a great place for brunch

Old Colorado City History Centre originally is a first Baptist Church of Colorado City, built in 1890. In 1992, The Old Colorado City Historical Society purchased the church and converted into non-profit History Centre.

Exhibitions and display of the past history of the city
During our visit, Old Colorado City is celebrating their Territory Days and the streets are closed for celebration.

A roadshow to introduce Hawk & Owl habitat to the public

A dancing school having live dancing demonstrations to attract customer.

" Tut Tut " Train for kids along the road

Ranger Dog! I found he is cute and so " MAN"
You can find this old houses along the street. I wished I have one if permanent here!

If you intent to visit some historic town in Colorado Springs, you can dropby here. If there are time constrains, I would advice to skip this town and visit Manitou Springs instead as there are more attractions in Manitou.
